Firewall Dashboard v1.1 Now Available
Version 1.1 of the Firewall Dashboard is now available for download.
On upgrade for existing users, the installer will uninstall the previous version. Unlike previous versions, your configuration settings will NOT be lost. With v1.1, we are now introducing a new Import/Export tool that will allow you to backup and restore settings across machines! Very useful for rapid deployment for resellers.
NOTE: You will still need to run the Configuration Wizard so you can set the password for the scheduled daily report generation. Failing to do that will NOT set up the scheduled task.
Version 1.1 also introduces a new parsing plugin, designed to allow for access to firewall events on remote SQL server databases. This is useful if you are a managed service provider and tasked to monitor multiple firewall sources. For more information, you can check out a previous blog post about the new log parsing plugin.
A new "Possible Port Scan Detection" report was added that will allow you to quickly see if adversaries are fingerprinting your network with port scans. It looks for both well known port scans as well as unprivileged higher port scans. We hope to provide more intelligence gathering reporting in future releases.
Numerous UI bugs and feature requests have been made. Some of the more interesting ones include an update to the Activation Wizard to "revive" itself when the product expires, changes to how the Configuration Wizard shows the parameters panel in the parsing plugin section, and updated logic in the way attack timelines are plotted. We also added the ability to right click on a Source IP in the Firewall Events view to perform a reverse WHOIS interrogation on the IP so you can get an idea where the attacking source is coming from. This is still quite new and will be cleaned up in future versions to provide more IP interrogation information as required.
